Michelle Stein joined Black Hills Information Security (BHIS) in the Summer of 2024 as a Security Consultant. In this role, she tests client systems and networks for vulnerabilities or misconfigurations that could leave them open to a malicious threat actor and helps patch them before any harm is done. Previously, Michelle worked as a PCI Software Engineer at Publix, before moving into a position as a penetration tester at Optiv, and later a security engineer at Open Security. She chose BHIS because she believes it will empower her to learn new skills and give back to the wider cybersecurity community. Michelle says the best part of BHIS is the people full of passion for the field and spreading that knowledge. Outside of work, she can be found working on her photography, hiking, and playing video games with friends.
