Dani Costa joined Black Hills Information Security in February 2024 as a Graphic & Print Production Designer, where she pushes the boundaries of traditional cybersecurity design by challenging the idea of “this is how infosec design has always looked” and introducing new visual concepts that blend styles ranging from retro-futuristic to postmodernism. Her work creates bold, memorable visuals that evoke nostalgia and curiosity, resonating deeply with the infosec community.
Prior to transitioning into the creative field, Dani worked as a mechanical engineer designing 2D and 3D precision mechanical components, and this technical background continues to influence her design approach by bringing a unique balance of structure, systems thinking, and creativity. Her favorite part of working at BHIS is the creative freedom, the ability to create without being confined by boxes, along with the opportunity to engage with the community, the BHIS culture of giving, and the overall environment fostered at Black Hills. Outside of work, she enjoys interior design DIY projects around her house, traveling with her husband and son while photographing everything around her because “anything can be good source material for textures and future design ideas,” discovering new places to enjoy good food, and spending time with friends while serving her local church community.
