Bronwen Aker officially joined Black Hills Information Security as a full-time Technical Editor in the Fall of 2022 after working with the team as a 1099 since 2018. Her primary responsibilities involve editing pentest reports and upholding reporting standards, while also improving the QA/QC process for the Antisyphon training courses and helping revamp the public-facing websites. She previously did web development and technical training for 20+ years before making the switch to cybersecurity in 2017. In 2018, Bronwen was working on a course update review for one of John Strand’s SANS classes when she found and corrected a 1-character typo in a command string that had been broken and unchallenged for some 10 years. After that, John asked her to come work for him editing pentest reports, and the rest is history. Outside of work, Bronwen enjoys science fiction and fantasy media, playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and dogs.
