Mitchell Stein joined Black Hills Information Security (BHIS) in the Summer of 2024 as a Security Analyst. In this role, he tests client systems and networks for vulnerabilities or misconfigurations that could leave them open to a malicious threat actor and helps patch them before any harm is done. Previously, Mitchell worked as a PCI Software Engineer at Publix, before moving into a position as a penetration tester at Optiv, and later a security engineer at Open Security. He chose BHIS because he believes it will empower him to learn new skills and give back to the wider cybersecurity community. Mitchell says the best part of BHIS is the people full of passion for the field and spreading that knowledge. Outside of work, he can be found working on his photography, hiking, and playing video games with friends.
